julian dyson 1936 - 2003 was born in st. mawes, cornwall. he was a completely self taught artist who's painting became quite prolific  towards retirement from his profession as a dental surgeon. his first one man show was at the hansard gallery, southampton in 1972. returning to his home town in 1983  he began exhibiting frequently in both solo and group exhibitions finally retiring from dentistry to paint full time in 1997. as an artist he was well liked and respected, he established a reputation as an interesting painter and sculptor, the landscape of cornwall being a key element in his work.
