the painting created in 1969, is the original art work featured on the front cover of the catalogue of an exhibition of his work held at the zaydler gallery, south kensington on oct 28 1971. the painting retains its original red sold sticker, frame and exhibition catalogue. the painting was the property of the gallery owner and is not referenced as a work for sale in the catalogue.
born in london, relocated to dunedin, new zealand in 1938. ( the painting illustrates how maori art went on to influence his work.)
in 1947 patrick returned to the uk where he settled in st. ives and flourished amongst his fellow artists and sculptors in the developing st ives art scene.
the art work is both signed in the painting and on the reverse.
