mc'isaac and riddle was a prominamt victorian and edwardian photographic studio based in oban . scotland, activeduring the late 19th and early 20th centuries. They were highly regarded for capturing the changing landscapes, maritime activity, and people of the West Highlands. The studio was highly sought after for fine studio portraits, including traditional Victorian Cartes de Visite (CDVs) such as this one and larger format cabinet cards. One of their most famous surviving portraits is of the legendary champion piper John McColl, taken around 1903.Due to Oban's status as a major port, they frequently captured the local West Highland steamships and vessels that connected the inner and outer Hebrides.
