a fine pair of pierced porcelain candle stands by reg moon founder of the torquil pottery henley in arden, ( pottery stamp to the base ), dating from the mid 1970's. Both are in excellent condition. one has a minute hair line crack in the lip, that is just visible, it does not effect the structural integrity or appearance of the piece ( see photograph ).

reg moon founded the torquil pottery and gallery henley in arden in 1960. the pottery was named torquil after the boat he and his wife had lived on in cookham. reg had moved from the holkham pottery norfolk, to work for reg bew in cookworthy in the late 50's. it was here he met his wife mag.
the torquil pottery and gallery sold a mix of reg moons excellent pots and scandinavian designed products, including reg moons " the squashed bottle "
a pleasing collapsed gin bottle in a dali-esque bottle form that could be considered art or ashtray. the artists gilbert and george were so taken by the design they ordered 200 for their installation " reclining drunk " which was exhibited at the nigel greenwood gallery in 1973.
