study of a casement at shornemead fort camouflaged with graffiti.
shornemead fort, a wild beautiful and inspirational location on the shoreline of the river thames on the edge of shorne marshes and higham saltings.
shornemead fort was built in the 1860's and was the third incarnation of a fort on the site. built to defend the thames from hostile attack it was in use until 1950 when it was demolished due to safety fears caused by subsidence.
the site is now a nature reserve.
