an original film studio promotional photographic portrait of the actor known proffesionaly as chief thundercloud ( 1899-1955) in the iconic role of the apache chief geronimo in the 1939 western film production of "geronimo" directed by Paul Sloane. this was one of the earliest portrayals of the warrior and the first film where he was the title character.
chief thundercloud also played Tonto in the lone ranger serial 1938 and again in the loan ranger rides again 1939. he starred in over 75 film productions his last being John fords"the searchers" in 1956 starring John Wayne and Natalie wood which was released in the year after chief thunderclouds death.
