the print is related to "history of nothing " imagery. in paolozzi's film " history of nothing " he created a complex sequence of objects, architecture and landscapes, collaged together and accompanied by sounds. he intended the layering of images to enhance and at the same time take advantage of the dream like and difficult to explain elements of mass media, everyday objects and the mechanical processes of industrial production.
this is an unpublished print of tafel 16 from Eduardo paolozzi's studio, one of two from the estate of terry ( tim ) broadbent, eduardos studio assistant in the sixties.
paolozzi's controversial piece " tim's boot " was named after tim broadbent. the sculpture was an oversized version of a u.s.army american soldiers vietnam boot. it was shown in paolozzis 1971 tate gallery exhibition and featured as part of the anti-war iconography which was a leading feature of the 1971 exhibition. it was reproduced on the front cover of the 1971 catalogue and was included as a loose insert or boot(k) mark.tim broadbent as student and assistant worked on the exhibition and made the original cast.
included in the sale is a tate gallery paolozzi exhibition catalogue with complimentary tims boot print.
