The book is a detailed account of the archaeological project to recover King Henry VIII's flagship which sank in 1545 whilst attempting to take action against an assembled French fleet in the solent.
The book describes the extensive work by archaeologists led by Margaret rule,( who in fact learnt to dive in order to oversee the excavation,) divers and volunteers to find,excavate and ultimately raise the ship from the solent seabed in 1982. The forward by Prince Charles highlights the incredible human endeavor and the scientific and historical insights gained from the project.
